Happy New Year 2003!
What
are you claiming for yourself this New Year?
In New Thought we believe there is a power for
Good in the Universe greater than we are and we can use it! What does
that mean to you? How much will you use? How much will you refuse? How
much will you suffuse? How much will you diffuse?
The Science of Mind Textbook states: “We must
maintain a positive, consistent, aggressive, mental attitude in the
Truth”.
The key words here are positive and consistent! When we
face life with a positive mental attitude a subtle shift transpires and we
are lifted to the next level of peace, prosperity, and wisdom. If we are
spiritually inconsistent with God and the Universe, God and the Universe
seem to be inconsistent with our wants, needs, desires, goals, and
aspirations. What this means is the Universe responds to our inmost
intention! Jesus stated: Faith without works is
dead! We must put the “works with the faith”! He admonished us to “Be ye
doers of the word and not hearers only!”
Do
we have to wait for a crisis to turn to things Spiritual? Or is our daily
Life our Temple and our Religion? Are we willing to let go of the old
habit patterns of judgment and self-criticism so that we may experience
life from a higher point of view? Remember that negative habit patterns
are learned and can be unlearned and released forever!
According to an old Hindu legend there was a
time when all men and women were gods, but they so abused their divinity
that Brahma, the chief god, decided to take away from men and women and
hide it where they would never again find it. Where to hide it became the
big question.
When the lesser gods were called in council
to consider this question, they said, “We will bury man’s divinity deep in
the earth.” But Brahma said, “No, that will not do, for man will dig deep
down into the earth and find it.” Then they said, we will sink his
divinity into the deepest ocean.” But again Brahma replied, “No, not out
there, for man will learn to devise a way to dive into the deepest waters,
will search out the ocean bed, and will find it.”
Then the lesser gods said, “We will take it
to the top of the mountain and there hide it.” But again Brahma replied,
“No, for man will eventually climb every high mountain on earth. He will
be sure some day to find it and take it up again for himself.” Then the
lesser gods gave up and concluded, “We do not know where to hide it, for
it seems there is no place on earth or in the sea that man will not
eventually reach.”
Then Brahma said, “Here is what we will do
with man’s divinity. We will hide it deep down within man himself, for
there he will never look”!
Ever since then the legend concludes, man has
been going up and down the earth, climbing, digging, diving, exploring,
searching for something that is already within himself!
Over two thousand years ago a man named Jesus
who became the Christ found it and shared its secret; but in the movement
that sprang up in His name, the Divinity in Man and Woman has been one of
the best-kept secrets of the ages!
I challenge each and every one of us to take
a stand in the Truth that sets us free. To claim our Good and live out of
our Spiritual Intention. To “Look Within” and find the life you’ve been
“trying” to live!
If you come to Innerfaith occasionally set a
new standard for yourself! Put your spiritual life as a priority and
begin to attain to a “positive, consistent, aggressive mental attitude in
the Truth”. See your life expand into a greater reality of who and what
you are. Begin to give in the service of God’s Work your time, your
talent, and your treasure.
“Know that ye are gods, a little lower than
the angels”.
